Babies & Children

Many parents can find booking their baby or child in for an appointment to be daunting no matter what Practitioner or Doctor it may be with. However, booking your child in with an Osteopath does not have to be stressful.

All Osteopaths follow a special process that includes; a physical assessment, thorough health history (including obstetric and birth history for babies), a discussion on the risks/benefits of treatment, and a discussion around the tailored treatment plan.

You will be provided valuable take-home advice and methods that support the osteo treatment for your baby or child yourself.

Headaches & Migraines

Your appointment for a headache/migraine will consist of a thorough case history and provide you with an orthopaedic, musculoskeletal (and if required a neurological) examination in accordance with your symptoms.

The Local Osteo use a combination of techniques including massage, myofascial release, gentle joint articulation or manipulation to reduce your symptoms.

We will also teach you an array of techniques in which will allow you to eventually self-manage the issue.

Pregnancy & Women’s Health

Pregnancy can cause women to undergo many physical and hormonal changes. These changes prepare the body for birth, causing postural variations and in turn can cause a level of discomfort and stress.

The Local Osteo team are trained in pre and post-natal care and tailors treatment to your individual needs and situation. You are welcome to request a female Osteopath for your treatment.

Pre and post-natal care can help you to better cope and manage the many changes that you may experience both as a pregnant woman and after giving birth.

Sinus Pain

Young man experincing sinus pain

Osteopathic manual therapy involves holistic treatment around the face, sinuses, neck, thoracic inlet and upper back to assist with the drainage of the sinuses.

It can help to improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, reduce muscle tension, and restore joint and skeletal alignment. These techniques may help to reduce inflammation in the facial and sinus area, and ultimately reduce pain.

Your neck, shoulders and upper back will also be treated to further encourage drainage and reduce the tension that can correlate and become exacerbated in sinus conditions.

The Local Osteo provides individulised sports injury management, rehabilitation, and catered advice specific to your lifestyle to ensure you are able to return to your sporting activity as soon as possible.

Jaw & TMJ Pain

Osteopathic treatment for jaw and TMJ pain may involve the use of various manual techniques to release tension in the muscles, as well as manipulative techniques to improve joint range-of-motion, reduce inflammation, and restore normal musculoskeletal function of the jaw and temporomandibular joint (TMJ).

Your treatment may also include a combination of techniques such as massage, joint mobilization, trigger point release, stretching and exercises to improve strength and flexibility.

The consultation will also consider diet, lifestyle, environmental and psychological factors which can contribute to jaw and TMJ pain.
